which will be held on 19th and 20th October 2017 in Poprad, Slovakia.

 

10th conference is devoted to presentation of actual problems, trends and challenges from the area of theory and practice concerning management of entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial subjects, area of tourism and integrating area of humans´ life quality in a modern town/village/region. Exchange of actual theoretical and practical knowledge resulting from the area of holistic management is required and a wider public platform will contribute to fulfilment of the idea of meaningful cooperation of theory and practice, higher quality of university programmes of studies, networking and mutual positive enrichment of experts from practice, scientific and pedagogic workers and last but not least students as well.

On the 19th-20th. October 2017 The Department of Management in Poprad organized the 10th International Scientific Conference entitled Poprad Economic and Managerial Forum (PEMF 2017) related to „Trends in Quality of Work, Production, Services and Life“.

At the beginning of the conference, on behalf of the members of the organizing committee all participants were welcomed by Ing. Anna Diačiková, PhD.  Prof. ThDr.  Jozef Jarab, PhD., Rector of the Catholic University of Ružomberok, prof. Ing. Alena Daňková, CSc., Head of the Department of Management, PaedDr. Peter Krška, PhD., the Dean of the Faculty of Education, subsequently delivered their speeches and opened the conference. Important guests Ing. Jozef Švagerko, Mayor of Poprad and State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Mgr. Peter Krajňák spoke to the conference participants, too. On behalf of the practice and the main partners the speeches were presented by Dr.h.c. prof. Mgr. Ing. Štefan Kassay, DrSc., Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, scientist, entrepreneur, pedagogue, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of I.D.C. Holding, a.s., Ing. Jaroslav Mervart, PhD., Chairman of the CHEMOSVIT Group, a.s. and Ing. Juraj Chovaňák, marketing director of TMR, a.s. Speeches by KU officials and invited guests have been driven by the need to encourage young people to excel in today’s competitive world conditions. However, employers need to take into account the needs and preferences of young people entering the job.

Within the framework of the 10th year of the conference the ceremonial opening of the magazine REFLEXIE – Compendium of Theory and Business Practice, which is published by the Department of Management of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Catholic University in Ružomberok in cooperation with prof. Kassay was held.  The journal is specially adapted to the curriculum of the Catholic University and takes into account specific views of the business world from the point of view of theory and professional practice. The magazine was presented by prof. ThDr. Jozef Jarab, PhD., Rector of the Catholic University of Ružomberok, prof. Štefan Kassay and State Secretary of the MŠVVŠ Mgr. Peter Krajňák. The Rector of the Catholic University, in a short speech, emphasized the need to publish a magazine of this type, pointing to the uniqueness of the publication, which consists of a comprehensive view of entrepreneurship and brings students an important learning material from the business economy and business practice. At this ceremonial occasion, prof. Kassay appreciated the Memorial Medal of the Prof. Štefan Kassay Foundation for the Support of Science and Education to the student of the 5th year of the master’s degree program in Company Economics and Management, Bc. Andrea Bocanová for excellent study results she achieved during the course of study, creative approach to solving scientific projects and community-related activities at the Department of Management. Part of the festive moment was also the handover of a book gift to the student, the pentalogy of Business and Entrepreneurship in English. Within the individual sections of the conference aimed at tourism, the development of human potential and the multidimensional approach to process improvement, important representatives of home universities (STU Bratislava, ŽU Žilina, UMB Banská Bystrica, TU Košice, EU Bratislava, SPU Nitra, UPJ Košice, PU Prešov ) and foreign universities (SCIAF, Glasgow, Czestochowa University of Technology, Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa w Chełmie, Poland, TU Liberec, MU Brno) as well as practitioners presented their papers.
